The Refugee of The World
The Refugee of The World
What have I learnt or experienced listening to refugees and writing their stories?
The denial of basic human rights for refugees to live as human beings is cruel and inhumane. This is demonstrated through the indefinite stall and delays of the resettlement process towards safe third countries. This in turn destroyed their well being, and any hope of eventual freedom from persecution, isolation, exclusion and any other opportunity to rebuild their lives.
This politically induced misery forced the separation of refugees from their parents and other family members, who usually remained stuck in their home countries. Some aren't so lucky, where they're completely cut off their connection with them. Some of their families have even given up on finding their lost relative through this process. Leaving them totally alone in this most vulnerable situation.
"Patience has its limits"
These people are waiting to see some change in their lives. Yet, their days and years go uncounted. Most of them don't even remember dates anymore, and some have even forgotten their birthday. Their patience to wait for a hopeful change has dried out at this point. Change seems to remain as an ever present dream, just a step ahead or two than reality. Many have fled from their wars and conflicts affected countries with the hope of helping their loved ones, and eventually pursuing their life goals and ambitions. Nevertheless, they found themselves stagnate in legal limbo.
This hellish situation does not happen to be there naturally. But rather created by politics. The very fundamental essence of such was supposed to serve the people. Instead, they are destroying these innocent human beings, making them just barely surviving, but not really living.
All they ever wanted is peace. Yet, their very existence is denied at the face of this modern world. Rendering them as illegal immigrants. As if they are any less human than you are. They are isolated, ostracised from the rest of society and are to keep under surveillance.
All of these punitive measure and these barbaric policies from countries with strict border policies are slow-killing the refugees at their gates. Their deaths and passing often go unnoticed.
We have witnessed the consequences of such policies in Nauru, Manus Island and also, Indonesia. It is only the beginning of what's more to come. Especially, in the face of the changing Earth's climate.
"If you kill an innocent soul. It's like killing the essence of our entire humanity"
Please spread the words of these vulnerable refugees. All they wanted is to simply live like an ordinary human beings. None of us wants to rot like spoiled vegetables. We have many good skilled to contribute a lot in this world. And we can make this world a better place. Don't let us die
Please listen to these forgotten refugees:
